By Cloudlift. Updated September 14, 2026.
Choosing a Shopify customization app starts with what your products need. Some stores only need extra choices, such as gift wrapping or a message. Others need a product configurator with connected choices, measurements, price calculations and a live preview.
Live Product Options is our overall pick for combining these needs. You can start with a simple options form and build more involved configurations with conditional fields, custom pricing and visual personalization. Paid plans start at $9/month, with a free plan available while you build your store. Advanced features such as formulas and artwork export are available through separate extensions.
If your main focus is artwork and print-on-demand production, Customily and Teeinblue are also worth considering. Zepto suits text and photo personalization, while Easify and Globo offer free basic options with paid personalization upgrades. Below is a breakdown of what each app offers, its limitations and who it suits.
Product options, product configurator or product personalizer: what do you need?
A product options app adds choices and input fields to your product page. Think material, gift wrapping, delivery date, measurements or a message. Conditional logic means showing a field only when an earlier answer makes it relevant. For example, show the gift-message field when someone selects gift wrapping.
A product configurator connects choices into a product setup. Say you sell made-to-measure signs: the buyer chooses a material, enters width and height, then sees the finishes available for that material. A formula can calculate the price from those measurements and choices. The job is to make the options, rules and price work together.
LPO is our first choice here when a configuration needs several layers of conditions, measurements and custom pricing alongside a preview. Its Formula extension adds calculations to the options setup, so you can build beyond a simple list of extras.
A product personalizer app lets shoppers make a product their own with text, photos or artwork. Visual personalization includes a preview of those changes on the product. Some personalizers also prepare files for printing, engraving or another production process.
Say you sell necklaces. Choosing silver or gold is a product option. Entering a name is personalization. Seeing the name on the pendant is a live preview. Getting a file your engraver can use is a separate production requirement.
The categories overlap. Live Product Options covers both options and visual personalization. Easify and Globo also offer live preview on specific paid plans. Calling them options apps does not mean they cannot personalize products.
The six apps at a glance
These are use-case recommendations, not a scored league table. Prices are monthly USD, checked September 14, 2026, before taxes and optional extras. A starting subscription is not a quote for matching capabilities.

| Live Product Options | Options, product rules and live preview, with AI help for setup | $9; free while building your store | 100 orders/month on Startup; extensions cost extra |

1. Live Product Options: our pick for options, rules and personalization together

Live Product Options listing, captured September 14, 2026. The listing presents both custom options and live product preview.
Live Product Options, or LPO, fits stores where a product needs more than a name field. You can collect text, files, dates and measurements, show choices based on previous answers, add charges and display a preview on the product image. You can also use it for a simple options form without building a visual design.
Say you sell custom-sized signs. A buyer chooses a material, enters dimensions and adds a name. You need the right fields, a price calculation and a useful preview. That combination is why we would try LPO first for this job.
What it offers
- Text inputs, swatches, uploads, dates and dimensions, plus conditional options.
- Optional live preview for customer text and images.
- Text rules and a per-letter pricing control, observed in our September 9 editor inspection.
- A Formula extension for calculations and an Export extension for PDF, SVG, PNG and JPEG artwork.
The AI setup assistant is particularly useful to evaluate. Cloudlift documents it on all subscription plans: describe what you want, attach a product or reference, and ask it to create a setup. It can assist with styling and positioning preview layers. Its image tools can generate or edit images, remove backgrounds and separate layers; image operations use credits.
For example, you could ask: "Add a required name field to this necklace, show engraving only when selected, and position the name on the pendant." This is a suggested starting prompt, not a completed test or a promise of a correct first attempt.
LPO offers ChatGPT, Claude and MCP compatibility. MCP is a connection method that lets an AI assistant work with an app's tools. We verified the compatibility claim, but did not connect an external assistant or test its available actions for this article.
There is also a separate AI image extension for customer-facing image generation and editing. Its documentation now describes choosing models and comparing outputs in an evaluation mode. This is different from the built-in setup assistant. Each model run can spend credits; the extension's initial credit allocation does not renew monthly.
Pros
- One app can handle a basic options form or a more involved combination of rules, pricing and previews.
- The documented AI assistant gives merchants another way to build and adjust their setup.
- Extensions let you add specific capabilities when your products need them.
Cons and limitations
- LPO offers Formula, Export, Quantity, Bundle and AI features through separate paid extensions. Choose the extensions your configuration needs when budgeting.
- AI output still needs review, and image tools have usage costs. Results depend on the prompt, the model and how it's used, so outcomes vary by setup.
Pricing
Startup is $9 for 100 orders/month, Basic $19 for 200, Pro $29 for 300, and Unlimited $49 for unlimited orders. The product page lists each of the five extensions above at an additional $9/month. The main paid plans have a 14-day trial; free access is described as available while building a store. Plans · Extension terms.
Choose LPO when: you want customer choices, input rules and visual personalization in the same setup, with AI assistance available as you build. This includes products with complex pricing formulas or configuration-heavy setups.
2. Customily: best suited to artwork and production requirements

Customily listing, captured September 14, 2026. The gallery promotes design tools, live previews and production automation; these are vendor claims, not our test results.
Customily is a product personalizer with a strong artwork focus. It combines text and photo customization with design resources, automatic production files and print-on-demand connections. Its listing includes Canva import and AI effects.
Say you sell illustrated family gifts. The job involves building a reusable design, letting buyers change it and preparing the correct output. Customily deserves a place on that shortlist.
Pros
- Artwork tools and supplier connections support a design-to-production process.
- Documented exports include PDF, EPS, Adobe Illustrator, PNG, JPG and DXF. That format choice matters if a production machine has specific requirements.
- Text controls include length limits, input restrictions and a documented per-letter charge setup. These are not exclusive to LPO.
Cons and limitations
- Personalized-item fees add to the subscription.
- Embroidery formats require an account and connection with the corresponding provider; they are not universal exports for every machine.
- For a few ordinary product choices, evaluate whether you need the design and production setup at all. That is a fit question, not evidence that Customily cannot handle options.
Pricing
The listed plan is $49/month plus $0.10 to $1 per applicable order item, with a 9-day trial. Free access is for development stores. Customily's pricing page explains how unique personalizations and store/platform arrangements affect billing. Listing · Pricing rules.
Choose Customily when: artwork preparation and production formats drive your decision.
3. Teeinblue: best suited to a personalized print-on-demand catalog

Teeinblue listing, captured September 14, 2026. Its gallery presents live personalization and production-file automation.
Teeinblue is a visual personalizer aimed at selling personalized designs and connecting them to production. Its listing describes automatic print files, AI design effects, Canva and PSD import, and supplier connections including Printful and Printify.
It is worth evaluating when you sell a catalog of personalized mugs, shirts or wall art and need to manage the designs behind those products.
Pros
- Production files and POD connections are central to the offering.
- The plan lists unlimited products, customization options and stores within one account.
- Its AI Assistant through MCP documents campaign creation, placement of existing artwork, publishing and order-related actions.
Cons and limitations
- Applicable item fees begin after the first 100 orders per month.
- Campaigns bring products, mockups and artwork together. That structure is relevant for a design catalog, but may be unnecessary for a basic gift-message field.
- The MCP guide's design-library tools look up existing assets; do not assume every library asset can be created through those tools. We did not test the connection.
Pricing
Blue is $49/month, with a 14-day trial. The listing states no transaction fee for the first 100 orders/month and an applicable fee range of $0.10 to $0.40 per generated order item. Free access is limited to development stores. Current listing.
Choose Teeinblue when: personalized artwork and a connected POD catalog are your priority. Compare its supplier and file requirements with Customily before deciding.
4. Zepto: a focused choice for text and photo personalization

Zepto listing, captured September 14, 2026. The page shows product-preview examples alongside its options offering.
Zepto combines customer inputs, price add-ons and conditional logic with live product previews. Think names on gifts, uploaded photos or a product builder with visual choices.
In our September 9 inspection, a sample text input rendered in its editor preview. That was an editor check, not a storefront purchase or production-file test.
Pros
- A direct fit for products that need customer input and a visible preview.
- The Starter plan lists all option types, conditional logic and price add-ons.
- The inspected editor exposed font, color, character-limit and placement controls.
Cons and limitations
- Lower plans limit both personalizable products and monthly custom orders.
- Unlimited options per product does not mean unlimited products on Starter.
- We did not verify an equivalent LPO-style AI setup assistant or a full automated POD handoff. Treat those as questions to check, not features proven absent.
Pricing
Starter is $9.99 for 50 products and 100 custom orders/month. Basic is $19.99 for 200 products/300 orders; Pro is $29.99 for 500/500. Unlimited is $49.99 with unlimited products and custom orders. The listed trial is 15 days. Current listing.
Choose Zepto when: text, uploads and visual choices cover your needs and its product/order limits fit your catalog.
5. Easify: a strong free-options starting point with paid personalization

Easify listing, captured September 14, 2026. Check the plan details before assuming the advertised personalizer is part of the free plan.
Easify is an options app with a paid visual personalizer. Its free plan lists 15 option types and unlimited option sets, products and orders. Paid plans add pricing tools, uploads and product-image preview.
Say you sell gift boxes. A free options form may cover basic selections. Extra charges or a personalized image preview change which plan you need.
Pros
- A free operating plan for basic choices, including logic between Easify options.
- Pro includes formula, per-character and one-time pricing. Its pricing guide explains the different methods.
- Premium adds live product personalization and image tools.
Cons and limitations
- Product-image live preview requires Premium; it is not included in Free or Pro.
- Upload limits vary: Pro lists 10 files of 10MB each; Premium lists 20 files of 100MB each.
- Order export with options should not automatically be treated as a production-ready artwork export. Check the actual output your printer needs.
Pricing
Free, Pro $9.99/month, Premium $19.99/month and Enterprise $99.99/month. Paid plans list a 14-day trial. The listing says the same rates apply across Shopify plans. Current listing.
Choose Easify when: you want free options first, with a clear paid path to pricing tools and visual personalization. Compare it with LPO using the specific setup you need, not a claim that formula pricing belongs to only one app.
6. Globo: options and personalization with retail and customer rules

Globo listing, captured September 14, 2026. Live preview is listed on Advanced; Shopify Plus has different paid-plan rates.
Globo offers a free options plan and paid upgrades for charges, uploads and visual personalization. Advanced also lists POS support and rules for showing options based on customers, such as login status or tags.
That makes it worth evaluating for a store that wants options across customer groups or sells through Shopify POS.
Pros
- Free option sets, products and orders, with logic between Globo options.
- Paid choices cover uploads, additional charges and live preview.
- Advanced includes cart editing, customer-based rules and POS support.
Cons and limitations
- Live preview requires Advanced; Premium alone does not include it.
- Premium file uploads are limited to 20MB; Advanced lists up to 20 files at 100MB each.
- Shopify Plus merchants pay higher listed subscription rates.
Pricing
Free, Premium $9.90/month and Advanced $19.90/month. Shopify Plus rates are $39.90 and $59.90 respectively. Paid plans list a 14-day trial. Current listing.
Choose Globo when: free options, customer rules or POS are relevant to your store. Verify the same product through your online and retail checkout before relying on the POS claim for your setup.
How should you compare the real monthly cost?
Start with the feature you need, then choose the plan. A free options form, a visual personalizer and an automated artwork-production system are different purchases.
LPO offers a flexible starting price for stores that want options and preview together, with room to add more involved customization. That makes it a strong value candidate for our recommended use case. Count the extensions your product requires before judging the total cost. For Easify and Globo, check the plan that includes live preview. For Zepto, check both catalog size and order volume. For Customily and Teeinblue, add the applicable personalized-item fees.
For a simple subscription example, LPO Startup plus Formula and Export totals $27/month ($9 + $9 + $9) within Startup's 100-order allowance. This assumes only those two extensions and excludes AI credit purchases and taxes. It does not establish feature equivalence with a $49 production-focused plan.
Before comparing item-fee bills, write down monthly orders, personalized items per order and repeated versus different designs. "100 orders" is not necessarily "100 billable personalized items."
Which app would we try first?
For options, complex configurations and visual personalization together, we would start with Live Product Options. The reason is its combination of customer inputs, conditions, pricing extensions and preview tools, with a documented AI assistant to help build the setup.
For a free basic options form, shortlist Easify and Globo. For a focused text-and-photo personalizer, include Zepto. For reusable artwork, supplier connections and production files, compare Customily and Teeinblue.
Try the same product in your two finalists. Enter a long name and accented characters. Upload your own photo. Check the preview on a phone, then verify the price in the cart. If you need production files, open an exported file in your actual production software. The useful winner is the app that completes your product's job.

Common questions
What is the best Shopify app for product options and personalization?
Our recommendation is Live Product Options when you need both product rules and a visual preview. The best fit changes if your priority is a free form, an artwork catalog or automated production. Use the category and plan differences above to choose what to trial.
Do I need live preview for a gift message?
Not always. If the message goes on a card packed with the order, a text field may be enough. If it appears on the product itself, a preview can help customers check its appearance. The production team still needs usable order details or artwork.
Which apps have AI or MCP?
LPO documents an AI setup assistant and a separate customer-facing AI image extension, and lists MCP compatibility. Teeinblue documents an MCP assistant for campaign and order tasks. Customily advertises AI effects and documents an AI prompt function. Those are different capabilities; an "AI" label alone does not tell you which job it does.
Are unlimited options the same as unlimited Shopify variants?
No. An app can collect customer choices without creating a separate inventory-tracked variant for every combination. If a choice needs its own stock level or SKU, check how the app connects it to Shopify products or variants. Do not assume a personalization field manages inventory.
How we compared these apps
We checked all six Shopify App Store listings and selected official documentation on September 14, 2026. Earlier inspections on September 9 covered selected editor controls; sample text rendered in the Customily, Teeinblue and Zepto editors. Easify and Globo's paid preview controls were not available on the free plans inspected. We did not repeat those editor tests today.
We have not completed matching checkout, export, fulfillment, speed or support benchmarks across all six apps. The banner is an illustration with app icons added for identification. Listing screenshots show each vendor's current presentation; marketing statements inside them are not independently verified results. Recommendations are Cloudlift's editorial judgments. Unverified capabilities are not treated as missing features.
