Shopify product options compared: five apps, with black, white and oak photo frames and Cloudlift branding

Shopify Product Options App Comparison: 5 Apps Tested (2026)

On this page

By Cloudlift, the makers of Live Product Options. This is our own hands-on test, not an independent ranking, so weigh it accordingly. Updated September 24, 2026.

App listings all promise "unlimited options". The only way to know which app is easy to set up, and what you actually pay for the options you need, is to build a real product. So we built the same product in five apps on our own development store and tested each one on the storefront. This is that Shopify product options app comparison.

Our pick: Live Product Options. It gives you 30 option types, add-on prices, conditional logic and live preview from its $9 plan, the lowest price of the five for that combination, and its AI assistant built a large part of our setup for us. If you only need a free form, Easify and Globo are good places to start. Infinite Options is simple and proven if you don't need a preview. Customily is a print-production tool first.

This article is about product options: fields, prices and rules. If you mostly want to compare personalization and production files, read our six-app personalizer comparison.

What we built in every app

A personalized framed photo print, $39, with the same options in each app:

  • Photo upload, required.
  • Caption, optional, up to 30 characters, with accents (we typed "Zoë & James · 14.06.2026").
  • Frame color: black, white or oak swatches.
  • Size: 20×30 cm included, 30×40 cm +$10, 50×70 cm +$30.
  • Gift wrap: a checkbox for +$5.
  • Gift message: up to 150 characters, shown only when gift wrap is ticked.

30×40, oak, with gift wrap should come to $54 in the cart. It's a small product, but it touches every basic job an options app has: inputs, swatches, add-on prices and conditional logic.

The five apps at a glance

Prices are monthly USD from each app's Shopify App Store listing, checked September 24, 2026. "Option types" is what each listing states, except LPO, where we counted the types in its editor.

App Option types Ease of setup (our test) Cheapest plan with add-on prices Our result
Live Product Options 30 (4 need paid extensions) Easy; AI assistant did much of it Startup $9 Price, upload, crop and caption preview worked
Globo 15 free, 20 Premium, 30+ Advanced Moderate; many settings Premium $9.90 $54 cart; preview didn't show on our store
Easify 15 free, 28 paid Easy; clean editor Pro $9.99 Free plan: $39 cart, no upload
Infinite Options About 9 input types listed Easy editor; pricing needs extra products Essential $12.99 $54 cart; no preview
Customily Personalization elements, no count listed Hardest; three separate stages $49 + item fees Setup about half finished

1. Live Product Options: the most options per dollar

LPO's AI assistant receiving our setup request next to the options editor

LPO editor on our development store, September 24, 2026. The AI assistant panel (right) is building the framed-print setup from a written request.

Ease of use

This was our quickest build. LPO has a built-in AI assistant on every subscription plan. We described the product in plain English and it created a large part of the options, which we then checked and adjusted in the normal editor. If you already work in Claude or ChatGPT, LPO also has an MCP server you switch on in the app settings, which connects those assistants to your options editor.

Options, conditions and the live preview sit in one editor. The preview does add a step: we uploaded the three frame images and positioned the photo area once, which a plain options form doesn't need.

Options

LPO's editor offers 30 option types. That includes the basics (text, textarea, number, date, dropdown, buttons, radio, checkbox, color, image and color swatches, file upload) and more advanced ones like dimensions with width and height, fonts, an image library, tabs, a quantity input and a price summary. Four of them (bundles, quantity discounts, AI images and value formulas) need a paid extension.

On our storefront, the photo landed inside the frame and could be cropped and moved, the caption showed on the print with its accents, and choosing 50×70 changed the product price itself from $39 to $69. The gift wrap checkbox showed "+$5.00". We did not record a full cart check in LPO for this article.

Pricing

Startup is $9/month for 100 orders, Basic $19 for 200 and Pro $29 for 300, each with a 14-day trial. There is a free plan while you build your store. Pricing formulas, such as a price calculated from a custom width and height, need the Formula extension at $9/month. Plans.

Pros

  • 30 option types, add-on prices and conditional logic from the $9 plan.
  • The product price updates as options are chosen.
  • The AI assistant and MCP server cut setup time.

Cons and limitations

  • Formula pricing and a few advanced option types cost $9/month each as extensions.
  • Order limits apply on the lower plans.
  • Setting up a visual preview takes extra work, like uploading frame images.

Choose LPO when: you want a wide choice of options, add-on prices, conditions and an optional live preview in one app, at a low starting price.

2. Globo: lots of settings and a big free plan

Globo's add-on configuration dialog for the Size option

Globo's add-on configuration for our Size option, September 24, 2026. You can raise the product price directly or link an add-on product.

Ease of use

Globo's builder is packed with settings. That's powerful, but it took longer to find the right place for each job, and the personalizer lives in a separate tab with its own settings. Setting a price per option value was straightforward once we found the add-on dialog.

Options

The free plan lists 15 option types, Premium 20 and Advanced "30+". Our sizes and gift wrap added up correctly and the cart came to exactly $54. The conditional gift message showed and hid correctly. One thing to know: the headline price stayed at $39, and Globo showed the extra as a note instead ("Selections will add $X to the price").

Globo on our storefront. The size add-ons show next to each button, and the total extra appears as a note above Add to cart.

The live preview, which is on the Advanced plan, did not show on our test store. We didn't find the cause and it may be theme-related, so check it on your own theme.

Pricing

Free, Premium $9.90/month (add-on prices, uploads up to 20MB) and Advanced $19.90/month (personalizer with live preview, 20 files at 100MB each, POS). Both paid plans have a 14-day trial. Listing.

Pros

  • A generous free plan with unlimited option sets, products and orders.
  • Correct cart totals with add-on prices on Premium.
  • The largest review base of the five (5,068 reviews, 4.9 stars on September 24, 2026).

Cons and limitations

  • Many settings, so setup takes longer.
  • The headline price doesn't change; the extra shows as a note.
  • Live preview needs Advanced, and it didn't render on our test store.

Choose Globo when: you want a solid free plan and don't mind a busier editor.

3. Easify: the cleanest editor on a free plan

Easify's option editor with frame swatches and the live form preview on the right

Easify's editor, September 24, 2026. The form preview on the right updates as you build; the price column shows "Upgrade to PRO" on the free plan.

Ease of use

Easify had the cleanest editor of the five. The form preview on the right updates as you add fields, so you always see what shoppers will get. Setting up the conditional gift message took a few clicks, and it kept the typed text when the box was unticked and ticked again.

Options

The free plan lists 15 option types, and Pro and Premium list 28. On Free, our caption, frame swatches, size buttons and conditional gift message all worked. Photo upload and option prices are locked on Free, so our cart came to $39 instead of $54. Live preview needs Premium.

Pricing

Free, Pro $9.99/month (28 option types, uploads of 10 files at 10MB, formula and per-character pricing), Premium $19.99/month (live preview) and Enterprise $99.99/month. Paid plans have a 14-day trial. We tested the Free plan only, because starting Premium needed a real payment method. Listing.

Pros

  • The easiest editor to learn, with a live form preview.
  • A useful free plan for basic options and conditional logic.
  • Pro adds formula pricing at $9.99.

Cons and limitations

  • No uploads or option prices on Free.
  • Live preview on the product image needs Premium at $19.99.

Choose Easify when: you want a simple, free options form first, with a clear upgrade path.

4. Infinite Options: simple and proven, with pricing through extra products

Infinite Options editor with each size linked to a separate add-on product

Infinite Options' editor, September 24, 2026. Each paid size is linked to its own Shopify product, such as "Size upgrade 30x40 cm".

Ease of use

The Infinite Options editor is simple and quick to learn, and its conditional logic ("show when all conditions match") worked well. Pricing is the extra work. Infinite charges for a choice by adding a linked Shopify product to the cart, so we created three helper products: a $10 size upgrade, a $30 size upgrade and $5 gift wrap. That's fine for a few extras, but it's more to manage as your catalog grows.

Options

The listing names text, number, button, dropdown menu, date, file upload and checkbox inputs, plus image and color swatches. Upload, caption, swatches, sizes and the conditional message all worked, and the cart came to $54 with the add-ons merged into the line. The size buttons didn't show the surcharge on the product page, and there is no live preview or photo crop.

Pricing

Essential is $12.99/month with a 14-day trial. It's free while your store is in development. Listing.

Pros

  • Easy editor and dependable results.
  • Correct cart totals.
  • A long track record (2,613 reviews, 4.7 stars on September 24, 2026).

Cons and limitations

  • Every paid choice needs its own Shopify product.
  • No live preview and no crop.

Choose Infinite Options when: you need straightforward options and add-ons and don't need a preview.

5. Customily: built for print production, not quick options

Customily's option set editor for our framed print

Customily's option set editor, September 24, 2026. Options are built on top of a separate product base and design.

Ease of use

Customily was the hardest to set up. You create a product base, design a template on a canvas, then build an option set on top and connect it all to your Shopify product. We spent the most time here and got about halfway, so we didn't run a storefront test. For our frame, switching the frame image is tied to Shopify variants, so a simple color swatch wasn't enough.

Options

Customily doesn't list a number of option types. Its listing focuses on personalization elements: text, photo uploads, maps, calendars, clipart, AI effects and background removal. It's designed around artwork and print files more than around a list of product options and add-on prices.

Pricing

$49/month plus $0.10 to $1 per applicable order item, with a 9-day trial. It's free on development stores. Listing.

Pros

  • Powerful design and print-file tools.
  • Strong for print on demand.

Cons and limitations

  • The most setup steps of the five.
  • The highest starting cost, plus per-item fees.

Choose Customily when: print-ready artwork matters more than quick option setup.

Which app has the most options?

Counting option types, LPO offers 30 in its editor (26 without extensions). Globo lists "30+" on Advanced ($19.90), 20 on Premium and 15 on Free. Easify lists 28 on paid plans and 15 on Free. Infinite Options names about nine input types, and Customily focuses on personalization elements rather than option types.

So LPO and Globo Advanced are at the top. The difference is the plan behind the number: Globo's 30+ needs its $19.90 plan, while LPO's 26 core types come with the $9 plan.

What would our test product cost each month?

Here is what it would cost, on the cheapest plan, to sell our framed print with add-on prices:

  • LPO: $9 (Startup). Add $9 for the Formula extension if you want custom-size pricing.
  • Globo: $9.90 (Premium). $19.90 if you also want the live preview.
  • Easify: $9.99 (Pro). $19.99 for the live preview.
  • Infinite Options: $12.99, plus the helper products you create.
  • Customily: $49 plus item fees.

Subscription prices only, before taxes, checked September 24, 2026. Order limits apply on LPO's lower plans.

Which app would we try first?

For most stores, we would start with Live Product Options. It gives you 30 option types, add-on prices and conditional logic from $9, the product price updates as shoppers choose, and the AI assistant makes setup fast. You can add a live preview later without switching apps.

Start with Easify or Globo if you want a free options form first. Pick Infinite Options if you need simple add-ons and no preview. Look at Customily if you run print on demand at scale.

Whichever you shortlist, build one real product in your top two apps. Type a long caption with accents, add every paid option, and check the total in the cart.

Try Live Product Options.

Common questions

What is the easiest Shopify product options app to set up?

In our test, LPO was the quickest because its AI assistant built much of the setup, and Easify had the easiest editor to learn by hand. Customily took the most steps.

Which product options app has the most option types?

LPO (30 types, from $9) and Globo Advanced ("30+", $19.90) offer the most. Easify lists 28 on paid plans. LPO gets you there at the lowest price.

Can I charge extra for an option without creating a variant?

Yes, in LPO, Globo (Premium and up) and Easify (Pro and up). Infinite Options does it by adding a linked Shopify product, so you create a product for each paid choice.

Do I need live preview for product options?

Not always. A gift message or delivery note works fine as a plain field. A preview helps when the customer's photo or text goes on the product itself.

How we tested

We built the same framed-print product in all five apps on our Shopify development store on September 24, 2026, and recorded each build and storefront test. Globo was tested on its Advanced plan as a no-charge test subscription, Easify on its Free plan, and Infinite Options and Customily on their development-store access. LPO's in-app AI assistant helped with part of the LPO build.

Limits of this test: the Customily setup was about half finished, so it has no storefront result. For LPO we confirmed upload, crop, caption and size pricing on the storefront but did not record a full cart check. Globo's live preview did not render on our store and we did not contact support. Setup "ease" is our experience from one build, not a timed benchmark. Option-type counts come from each app's listing, except LPO, which we counted in its editor. Screenshots are from our own store.
