Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing is a cool way to make custom designs on clothes. You print on a special film and then stick it onto the fabric with a heat press. People everywhere love to customize their stuff, but figuring out the price can be tricky, especially when it comes to how big the design is.
If you're in the DTF business, charging based on the size of the design can really boost your Shopify store and make you more money. This lets your customers upload an image, choose how big they want it, and see the price change right away. They pay more for a big design and less for a small one.
You have the option to either create your own price list or use JavaScript to update the price in real time.

Steps to add dimension upload DTF and charge based on design size.
1. Install the App
2. Select a Template or add new product Option
- You can use a template to speed things up or create options from scratch.
- Choose the product you want to customize. You can select a single product or multiple products.
- In this specific example, You need to add two types of product options: first, an upload button, and second, dimensions. Next, you should connect the dimensions to the upload button using the advanced settings of the upload button.
- In the advanced settings of the dimensions type, you can add a price formula or select a predefined price list option that does not require JavaScript knowledge (You can create your price list in the app itself).
3. How this works
- When a customer uploads an image, if the image is in a 1:1 ratio, the dimensions will automatically update based on the image size. Additionally, you can adjust the DPI (dots per inch) in the upload advanced settings.
- For example, let's consider dimensions of 30 cm by 30 cm. Customers can modify the design size from 30 cm by 30 cm to any other size they prefer and observe real-time price adjustments accordingly.
4. Activate and Save
- Once everything looks good, save your changes.
And that's it!
Now your customers can change the design size and see the price change in real time.
